Dear Telly,
All my life I have heard people use the term "horse sense." Can you tell me exactly what "horse sense" is?
Dear Mattie:
Yes, I can. Horse sense is what keeps a horse from going to a track meet and betting on a man.
Dear Telly,
If the owner of a coffee shop gets careless and lets a mouse drown in the coffee pot, would that give the people who drink the coffee grounds to sue?
Dear Wondering,
I have watched Judge Judy on T.V. enough to give very wise answers to legal questions when I have enough information. You have given me so few details, my answer has to be based on some "if's." If the owner has a "no swimming" sign posted on the coffee pot, then the blame shifts from the owner of the coffee shop to the dead mouse. The nauseated coffee drinkers could sue the dead mouse's family. That would set a legal precedent. It would take a Mickey Mouse lawyer who probably would have a difficult time serving the summons. If the coffee shop owner did not have a "no swimming" sign posted on the coffee pot, then he could be sued by the nauseated coffee drinkers and the dead mouse's family, which would set another legal precedent. I hope this clears up the confusion.
